On beheadings and brawls in Copenhagen, a history of violence

Beforehand we were busy beating each other up. Somehow that went out of fashion and nowadays we'd rather give each other hugs than headbutts. Illustration: Nina Søndergaard

Chess players, knights, priests and schoolteachers were violent psychopaths compared to our peaceful standards of today. The murder rate was sky high and the answer was executions on Nytorv. The news makes us think that it is very dangerous nowadays but the truth is that was much worse back in the days.

Come along on this themed city walk and hear about the fracas in the financial fraternity. A cook gets beat up and a bartender gets murdered just within a few hundred meters. We will also see some architectural details that testifies our very violent past. Come along and walk home hopefully feeling a bit more safe and happy.
